Yesterday we had our (almost) annual summer party at the farm where we enjoy a summer evening with family & friends. The party always includes a hayride through the corn fields as well as watching a BIG group of kids play in the sand, on the trampoline and on the soccer field. We also use the party to celebrate our boys' July birthdays. I had such a great time, only wishing I had more time to visit with everyone. We had 55 people here and actually finished the big Costco birthday cake for the first time! Thanks for coming everyone!
Hosting a party always forces us to get things done around the house that have been on our minds for a while (ok, probably more my mind than Chad's :) which means lots of lists! Here's the final list of things to do for the party (yes, there were lists before this one)!
A few days before the party, Chad got a dump truck load of sand for the backyard. On the day of the party, the kids helped some with cleaning and set-up but there were times where Chad and I just wanted to get stuff done ourselves so we sent the kids to the sandbox and told them they had two choices: 1) play together in the sand without arguing or 2) help us clean. That resulted in a couple hours in the sand and some pretty intricate sand tunnels of which they were very proud.
This looks like trouble doesn't it?! Cade, Pascal, Max, Jack
The kids had a blast on the trampoline. All I can say is thank goodness for the side netting!

Such a cute picture of Payton and her daddy, Jake

A big thanks to Searra (with help from Mariah) for being the picture-taker during the party! Here she is with Genevieve who, apparently, didn't want her picture taken!

Ready for the Hayride!

It was a great night for a ride!
I love this picture of Payton and Mateo (at the baby calves during a stop on the hayride)
Max and Ben on the Hayride
Mariah was such a good sport on the hayride as Peyton & Mateo kept putting hay in her hair
Of-course, Willem wanted to sit up front in the tractor for the hayride (please disregard the writing :)
Getting ready to go again on the hayride
Sydney, Selene, Jessica, Natalie and Lucia
Cousins! Gabrielle, Athena and Meleesa
Payton looks like such a farm girl to me! Such a cutie!
Genevieve and her Grandma!

Frances enjoying corn on the cob; we picked lots of corn for the party from our neighbor's sweet corn field
My Dad and Kathleen
Chad and our birthday boys, Cade - 10, Willem - 6
Willem was upset after Cade blew out all of the birthday candles on their joint cake! Brothers! We re-lit Willem's side of the cake for him to blow them out :)
Me and my boys!
Athena ready for cake and ice cream!
Genevieve trying to get a hold of her daddy's drink!
I managed to get a couple pictures of our kids before the party ~ never an easy feat!
