Flag Football for Willem!

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, I love watching our kids play their sports! I feel privileged that they enjoy it as much as they do and that I get to watch them! And, flag football for Willem this fall has been no exception! Will continues to play his year-around soccer with his club team but he also really wanted the chance to play flag football again with his classmates. Luckily his coach is flexible and Willem has been able to make all but one game. His team is now 7-0 with one game remaining before the play-offs. Willem has scored in all games but one and has scored as many as five touchdowns in a game! He has four interceptions, a couple kick-off returns for td's and at least fifteen 'tackles' or 'flag grabs' per game. He's gotten to play wide receiver, running back, tackle, quarterback, lineman, linebacker, safety and more! He also takes all the kick-offs. As an athletic and good-sized 5th grader in this 4th/5th grade league, Willem has been able to be pretty dominate and having a good team along side him has helped a lot! What I love also about watching Willem, is how aware and smart he is on the field. He directs his teammates a lot and is smart in how he tackles and runs. Mostly, he's having a blast which is fun to see!

Season end update: Willem's team went undefeated, decisively winning the championship game with Willem scoring numerous touchdowns, having numerous 'takles', running back kick off returns and kicking off :-) It's been a fun run!

Standing a lot like his daddy :)

This is a fun series of nine pictures, where Willem intercepts a pass and runs it back 50 or so yards to the 5 yard line, I love how he 'cuts' and stays so low to the ground as he cuts making it tough to grab his flags...

These next four pictures are when Willem faked a throw and then ran the ball in for a td...

Three generations of football players! Grandpa LOVES that Willem is playing football and loves watching him play!

Nev borrowed my nice camera and took some pics of her sis :)

Homecoming 2014

Cade asked his friend Kyndsi to Homecoming this year. Though his 'proposal' was very informal (unlike so many now-a-days), Cade did pick an arrangement of sunflowers to give Kyndsi. Cade and Kyndsi have known one another for nine years (we do call Kyndsi 'the other Konyn cousin') and both are varsity soccer players as freshmen, so it was a pretty relaxed and fun evening with friends. They met at Kyndi's house along with a group of friends, visited for a while and took pictures. We then took them to BJ's for dinner and then to the dance where Cade reported having a good time. Luckily, they were good sports when we asked them to take a picture with their soccer cleats :)

Friends and fellow soccer fanatics!

I had fun shopping with Cade for his outfit. He had definite opinions on what he wanted to wear!

2014 CrossFit {OR Games, Regionals, Open, Rec League & More}!

Crossfit has slowly but surely become a big part of my life. I've been 'CrossFitting' almost five years now which is hard to believe! I go to Eugene CrossFit (my 'Box') almost every weekday at 8:30 am after dropping the kids at school for a workout with a group of 2-10+ people and our coach, Daren. I also go in a couple hours on the weekends if I have time and am not at soccer or basketball games or doing something else with the kids and Chad! Wednesday evenings are 'Team Workouts'. I love going and am lucky to have made some great friends in my time at ECF! Here's a little info and pictures on this year so far at CrossFit...

Summer Games: In August, Lindsey and I competed in The Oregon Summer Games and placed 14th out of 36 teams in the Rx (top) division. Not as good as our 8th place finish last year but we had a great time with tons of great people including staying in the hotel with Kendall which led to many evening gab and laughing sessions!

NW CrossFit Regionals: I was a little bummed to not be on the ECF team competing for our box this year at the NW CrossFit Regionals, I was the alternate once again! But, I still had a fun weekend watching the competition outside of Seattle and driving up with Daren, Lindsey and Cassidy. ECF finished 18th and Sam Jay from our box was also fun to watch in the individual men competition. It was also fun watching Kendall's CFI team compete. Unfortunately, the finished 4th place, just one spot out of qualifying for the CrossFit Games in LA, due to dropping the bar in an early event (they'd have been top 3 for sure without that mistake).

2014 Open and Masters Regional: Though I barely finished outside of the team (again!) this year, I was happy with my placement and performance in the 2014 CrossFit Open which took place in February and March of this year. I placed 130th in the Northwest for all women out of about 3,000 total women. My other women teammates finished 67th (Emily), 70th (Chantelle), 116th (Cassidy) & 387th (Lindsey). My Open performance placed me 6th in the NW for Master's Women and 89th in the world (out of over 3,200, ages 40-44). This was enough to qualify me for the Master's regional where I placed 54th in the world. Here are a few pictures from the Open/Master's Regional time frame...

Cheryl and Troy's visits: We sooo miss having Cheryl and Troy in Eugene and at our box (they moved to Hawaii last year). It's always so nice catching up when they come to visit! Here are pictures from two visits this year...

2014 Winter Rec League: Our Cupcakes co-ed team took first place in the winter rec league at ECF. We competed one evening a week for six weeks against teams from our gym as well as a couple other in town!

And here are a few other pictures from my time at CrossFit this year. Genevieve went with me most mornings last winter and spring and she (usually) loved being there, drawing, playing and watching shows on the iPad! I miss her this fall now that she's in kindergarten (though it does make it all a little easier!) I sure do love that I enjoy going to ECF everyday that I can!
