Halloween (and a little soccer update)!

On Friday the kids got to go to school in their costumes, take part in the 'costume parade cake walk' and have a party at the school. They were very proud of their costumes thanks to Grandma's thrift shopping and her sewing! Here's our 'hobo', 'clone tropper', '50's girl', and 'cow'...

On Halloween Day we headed up to Portland to watch Cade play a couple soccer games. They finally got a win in the Portland league...in their last game! They ended the season (in the top Portland U12 league) with one win, five ties, and six close losses. We saw Cade and his team improve a bunch. We feel so lucky to be a part of a great group of kids with a fantastic coach. If I remember correctly Cade scored five or six of the team's 14 goals in 12 games. It has been so much fun to watch him. In the statewide OYSA league, his team is undefeated at 5-0 with nine more games to go (mostly next Spring). Gabrielle also played in a couple games this weekend. She's been playing central defender and forward this season taking advantage of her great left foot! Her EMFC U10 team ended up third out of eight teams in the top U11 Kidsports league (mostly 5th grade teams). She's been improving so much too (starting all the games) and we just love watching her team play so well together. She loves playing with this team and, again, we feel so lucky that we found this team for her. Both Cade and Gabrielle will play in an end of season tourney in Portland over the next two weekends. Then it's on to indoor soccer and some basketball!

Ok, now onto Halloween night which we got to spend in Portland with Aunt Amber, Uncle Tony and Jacoby! It was a perfect night. The weather was great, Amber and Tony's neighborhood where we trick-or-treated was so festive and the kids got a ton of candy! Also, we watched a fantastic Duck Football WIN over USC!! It was a great night and a great weekend. Cade's friend Liam and niece Athena also joined us trick-or-treating.

Genevieve was a sweet little cow. As the night went on, she enjoyed grabbing a treat out of the bowls at people's houses. She wasn't sure about it at first but eventually would grab at a bright candy.

Jacoby's little puppy outfit was so cute on him!

Willem was probably the most enthusiastic trick-or-treater. He raced from house to house. We had to chastise Cade a few times for grabbing five or more candies when the nice people at the houses told them they could pick a few candies from their bowls!

 

It was fun to see all the great jack-o-lanterns out that night!
