Soccer in Vegas

Cade's ETFC U16 Boca Jr. Black soccer team played in the Mayor Cup Showcase Tournament President's Day weekend in February. It was, unfortunately, the same weekend as the big (for our little school) St. Paul basketball tournament. It was hard for Cade to forgo his only chance to play in the St. Paul tournament (he was injured last year) but he didn't waver in his choice to go with his soccer team to Vegas. Chad and I were bummed to miss watching him play in the St. Paul tournament AND miss him play in Vegas but we wanted to be in Eugene to support Gabrielle as she played in the basketball tournament and it was a lot cheaper to send Cade with his team to Vegas. We asked Cade to please send updates and pictures. He was good about texting us game updates but we only got a few pictures from him (and I got most of them from his or his teammates instagram feeds!)...

Luckily, a dad on the team took lots of great game pictures and shared them with us. Cade's team was missing six of its regular players and took three players from the 'B' team just to have 13 players. Cade's ETFC Boca Jrs. didn't play well in their first game and lost 4-0 vs. Kansas KS Rush. Their second game they played much better and lost 2-1 vs. the team that ended up winning the tourney (Las Vegas Soccer Academy, ranked #1 in the Las Vegas area). In their third game, Cade scored the only goal and the Bocas won 1-0 vs. Sacramento United Reds. In their final consolation game, the Bocas lost 2-0. Cade had a great time with his teammates but really hopes next time they travel far for a tournament. his whole team can be there and they can get a better result.
