Tournament Season Begins!

The first weekend school was out we headed to our first soccer tournament in Portland. All three of our big kids played in it and they all did so well. Both Willem's U11 Dortmund Blue team and Cade's U16 Boca Jr Blue won the top division of the THUSC United Cup. The competition was not the best that they have seen but it was still great that they both won! Willem's team won their pool play games in commanding fashion with 10-0, 5-1, 10-0 and 8-0 wins. The championship game was a lot closer with a 1-0 win over SSC Revolution. Willem played in goal the whole final game and secured the shutout. In the earlier games he shared time in goal with two other boys but was still able to score and assist numerous goals when he was on the field. Cade's team won all three of their pool play games 2-0 and then beat EMFC's Boca White team (and his cousin Pascal...who played great) 2-1 in the final. Cade scored both goals in the final which was a blast! He also scored another couple goals in pool play.

Elle's U13 Sol Blue team played some good competition. In pool play they lost 0-1 to FC Navy then beat WA Timbers Forest 3-0 and NEU 5-0 which was enough to win their group of three. They ended up losing in the semi-final to Westside Timbers TS in a close game 0-1. Elle played some of her best games she has ever played and played almost the whole game every game at center back.

The tournament was especially fun because my sisters, and three of my brothers and their kids were there to watch a lot of the games. Such a fun weekend!
