Marilyn's Summer Visit!

One of the highlights of my summer each year is my sister's annual visit to Oregon.  This year's visit was full of chaos, with all of us three sisters going in different directions... Marilyn travelling around & with her family, me shuttling our kids for soccer & Amber juggling three little ones while travelling back & forth between LO & Eugene.  But we were able to squeeze in some quasi-together sister time for chats, mostly during car rides here & there.  And we also did a lot together with cousins & kids & husbands & family.  Amber and kids spent July on & off in Eugene... three days one week, four days the next, followed the 3rd week by an overnight visit by my nieces & sister, & wrapping up with a weekend trip with Tony.  We did a lot of activities for the kids over the weeks... slipping & sliding, berry picking next door to the dairy, an afternoon at a splash pad in town, the Coburg Golden Years, a good amount of shopping with the Loftsgard girls, weekly co-ed outdoor soccer games followed by DQ or Papa's Pizza, birthday celebrations, walks on the dairy, park trips, Dickie Yo's & Mucho Gusto, & one afternoon at Amazon pool.  The kids also had cousin babysitters a handful of times, which they just love, love, love.  The cousins do way more fun things at the dairy than us moms do with them.  They make carnival games, play elaborate pretend games like sword fighting & veterinary clinics, watch mid-day movies, play in the cotton seed & sit down playing electronic games together.  Meanwhile when us sisters did get away, we were driving kids to practices or games, including a trip all together to Portland for one Willem soccer game just so we could chat in the car.  One time we snuck away to get pedicures & it was a bit of late night luxury.  What a fun & crazy time with our families! Here's a quick rundown of a few things us sisters wrote on IG after time together... "Love that we figured out the importance of not cleaning out a car, that we all like coconut & salted caramel frozen yogurt, that grabbing each other while taking pictures is a bad idea, that swimsuit bottom elastic is way too tight, how funny us Konyn girls really are & that our daughters completely agree, that Marely can pull of a straw hat, that we can make any schedule work no matter how complex, that Leticia is a mighty fine slip & slider, that despite my slow pb&j talents I spread the ingredients very evenly, that you must at times accelerate on hills & red lights, that you can survive on about 5 nights sleep 4 nights in a row, that sisters really are the best, the ones who laugh at the same things, who know you & accept the clumsy, crazy parts of you without any eye rolling, & that (we can't stress this enough), Konyn girls really are funny & our daughters agree!!"
