We enjoyed another fun New Year's Eve party at my Dad and Kathleen's house complete with banging of pots and pans as the clock struck midnight! As expected, our three big kids had no trouble staying up well passed midnight. Genevieve would have made it as well had she gotten a nap in but, without her nap she was asleep in my arms at about 10:30. It was a little more mellow this year without Duane, Mary, Marcus or Melissa but we still managed to eat lots of great food, play some games (most if us anyway), chat for hours, watch the kids do a dance performance and ring in the new year. We did get a possible glimpse into the future as Cade was a little bored this year for a while which was a first on New Year's Eve; I think he wanted to go with his 18 year old cousin Roman (who left at 9:00 pm) to the parties in town! Scary! Cade missed having more of his friends and family at the party like in years' past. We will have to plan a little better next year and be sure to have a couple more of his friends there and be sure the 'teenagers' are entertained. It had always been one of Cade's favorite nights of the year and we'd like to keep it that way in the safety of Opa and Kathleen's house :) Another thanks is due to Amber for letting me borrow the collages she made for her blog post. Notice Chad cupping Nev's ear on the left; she slept through the banging of pots and pans at midnight without even stirring!
