CrossFit Regionals and My CrossFit Besties!

The CrossFit Northwest Regionals was held in the Seattle area in early June. It was an event I have so enjoyed the past two years, having competed on the Eugene CrossFit team and cheering on my good friends, Cheryl and Kendall. This year was a little different and a lot disappointing. I barely missed out on making our box's team which was disappointing though, up to the regionals, I worked hard on improving in a lot of areas which was fun and motivating. The most disappointing thing while attending regionals was Cheryl (who was doing amazing and on her way to qualifying for the Games) tore her Achilles tendon during Event 5. It was so sad seeing her pain and to see all that hard work she had done for the past year not culminating to a trip to the Games. Kendall, who was also doing amazing, also got injured. Though she finished the competition, she did it injured and just missed qualifying for the Games as well! What a bummer. Still, through it all, it has been great building such a great group of CrossFit friends and we had a great time together despite the disappointments!

The Eugene CrossFit Team who did great in the competition finishing 12th!

At the hospital with Cheryl :(

On of our lunches together! Love these!

Love these gals! Here we are at Cheryl's house after the competition. We've been getting together more lately as Cheryl is leaving us...moving to Hawaii :(

Our kids having fun while we chat

I spent quite a bit of time at the box before regionals, working out mostly with Cheryl and Lindsey. It was fun to see all of our improvements

Coach Daren, Cheryl and I coordinated this training day without planning it!

And, another unplanned twinsie day! I'm gunna miss seeing Cheryl everyday! But will love visiting her in Hawaii!

Cousin Andy's Graduation

Cade has always been very close to his cousin Andy in Portland. Hard for us to believe he has graduated from high school! Cade went up to Portland with Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Carrie and loved spending time with Andy and spending time with the graduates on the floor of Memorial Colosseum. I know it'll be Cade's turn before we know it!

Spring Soccer

Finally, a summary of our kids' spring soccer season and state cup:

Cade was injured most of the season with his fractured back. He was out from late-January through mid-April. He was able to play in the final weekend of state cup games however, the team was mostly eliminated at that point. The Boca Blue's (coach Joe Beeler) finished the winter league (in premier) in 4th place with a record of 4-4-2 behind OSSA I, Eastside and OSSA II. The Bocas got a little unfortunate in their state cup draw in that they were one of the top 4 seeds based upon their prior year state cup standing but still got OSSA II in their group because OSSA II was a new team this year. The Boca's were 2-2 in group play at state cup which was not enough to advance to the quarterfinals (they lost 0-3 to both OSSA II and Eastside II and then beat WT Samba and Copa both 2-0); it was a very disappointing state cup for the team. We just couldn't wait to watch Cade play and enjoy himself on the field again!

Gabrielle's Sol Blue team (coach Robin) played in the 1st division for the spring with the teams ranked 9th-16th in the state. They finished in 3rd place with a 4-2-2 record. Elle played center back in all the games and usually played all but a few minutes of each game. In state cup, Sol was disappointed to lose 0-2 to WT Samba (a team they normally beat) and then lost in a heart breaker to a top premier team, Eastside 2-3 (who came back in the 2nd half to beat Sol). It's been fun watching Elle take more of a leadership role on her team this year.

Valencia Blue (coach Porter) played in the top non-state cup division (division 2/3) and finished 5-3 for a 3rd place finish. Willem played half of most games in goal and the other half usually at forward though he did great playing some center back and mid-field as well. It's fun to watch his team and Willem improve.

Here are some soccer pictures from December through April...
